A rarity from the Côte de Nuits, this white wine emerges from just 0.15 hectares of Chardonnay planted in the Clos Solon and Les Seuvrees vineyards. Since 2008, Benoît Stehly has steered Domaine Georges Lignier with meticulous care, using neutral oak to emphasize site purity. The 2019 displays broad-shouldered structure and rich body typical of this limestone-driven terroir, with ripe apple, almond, and chalky minerality framing an impressively concentrated finish. White Burgundy with serious architecture.

Left Cote de Nuits

Georges is a cousin to the more famous Hubert Lignier, and both are imported by Rosenthal. However the wines of this estate are much more of the elegant, aromatic style than the big, brooding wines of Hubert. More Chambolle-like than Gevrey.

Benoit planted 0.15 hectares worth of Chardonnay in the Morey-Saint-Denis vineyards Clos Solon and Les Seuvrees between 2007 and 2011 in order to be able to produce an additional white wine. Fermented and aged entirely in barrels but with none new, it displays the broad-shouldered character and rich body typical of the seldom-encountered white wines of the Côte de Nuits, with notes of ripe apple and almond, and admirable concentration.
