From the producer: Domaine Pierre MOREY cultivates several litlle plots in 6 lieux-dits distributed in the heart of the appellation and all around the village. Some plots have red soils, others are more chalky, with a lot of stones.

Blending of these vineyards (slope and gentle-slope) produces a charming wine which is soft in the mouth from its youth. In addition to the beautiful expression of red fruits, there is a good tannin balance, which suggests that these wines will taste best if aged from 5 to 8 years, in most vintages.

Pierre Morey is a towering figure in Meursault. Along with his own prime vineyards he was also the winemaker at Domaine Leflaive in the 1980's and early '90's. He was one of the first growers in the region to fully embrace biodynamic farming, converting both Leflaive and his own domaine and reaching full certification by 1997. Now his daughter, Anne Morey, has taken the helm and is continuing on the path he started. She is a very intelligent, passionate and gracious person and her talents in the vineyard and cellar are exceptional.

Antonio Galloni

AG 92
"The 2020 Monthélie 1er Cru exhibits aromas of cherries wild berries raw cocoa loamy soil and spices followed by a medium to full-bodied lively and concentrated palate that's framed by powdery tannins concluding with a chalky finish. The 2020 vintage is another terrific success for Anne Morey who confidently directs this 11-hectare domaine as well as her family's Maison Morey-Blanc (also reviewed in this report). In white yields were generous delivering classically balanced wines that get my nod as the estate's finest since 2017. In red lower yields and rapid ripening had delivered more atypical results with some cuvées hitting 15% alcohol yet that was remarkably well-concealed?at least when tasting from barrel in the cellars."
