What is this wine?
Domaine des Moriers’ Moulin-à-Vent 2019 is a serious, structured Beaujolais cru crafted from old-vine Gamay grown on granite-rich soils straddling the communes of Fleurie and Moulin-à-Vent. The domaine—run by winemaker Fabien Duperray in collaboration with Jacky Janodet’s family—focuses on small-lot, low-intervention production. The fruit is hand-harvested, fermented with native yeasts using partial whole clusters, and aged in neutral oak barrels, producing a wine that combines depth and finesse.
Why get this wine?
Moulin-à-Vent is often called the “King of Beaujolais,” known for its longevity and complexity, and Domaine des Moriers’ version captures both beautifully. The 2019 vintage—ripe yet balanced—shows remarkable harmony, with the texture and structure to age gracefully for over a decade. This is a cru Beaujolais for Burgundy lovers: elegant, expressive, and full of character.
