This fortified Angelica, made from the Mission grape that early missionaries planted in California, was aged for 17 years in cool stone cellars before bottling in 1991—giving it extraordinary complexity and mellow richness. Dark brown in color with toffee, dried fig, salty, and root beer essences on the nose, the palate is dense and complex with Christmas pudding and candied fruit richness. A meditation wine, sipped slowly and savored for its place in California winemaking lore.

Over three generations, Heitz Wine Cellars has helped define modern-day Napa Valley. Founded in 1961 by the late Joe Heitz and his wife Alice, the winery has built a reputation for producing world-class wines of distinction, including one of Napa’s benchmark Cabernet Sauvignons, the Martha’s Vineyard; a wine that James Laube from Wine Spectator has referred to as one of California’s “grands crus.”

During that 50 year span not much has changed at Heitz. Stylistically the wines have remained true to what made them world famous in the 1970s; powerful and concentrated but balanced with a vibrant nature and structure that allows them to age gracefully for decades. That structure and elegance is a Heitz trademark.
