The Estate Spatlese is mostly made up of fruit from the hillside sites at a higher elevation, next to the top parcels, and well as the best fruits from Kiedrich Klosterberg and Grafenberg. The vines, grown on a combination of phyllite and loam, average 25-30 years old. The grapes are hand-picked after being left on the vines to ensure Spatlese level ripeness and then fermented in stainless steel tanks. Aromatically the wine has much more intense, stone and exotic fruit notes such as melon and white peach, with a dusting of white chalk. On the palate, the wine has much more elevated levels of richness due to this riper state at harvest, as well as classical Rheingau acidity that provides a delicious balance.

Founded in 1875, Weingut Robert Weil is actually considered one of the younger estates in the Rheingau area. Their main estate vineyards, Kiedrich Turmberg and Kiedrich Gräfenberg are situated on a southwest-facing ridge and a steep cliff with inclines of up to 60 percent! Due to this all grapes are hand harvested with immense care producing wines that are complex and rich in minerals, with great elegance and finesse.

"From the Wasseros, the 2022 Riesling Spätlese was picked about a week later than the Kabinett, which comes, more or less, from the same plots on phyllite slate soils with a good water supply. The Spätlese opens with intense, elegant and ripe yellow-colored fruit but is precise and fresh. On the palate, this is a savory, fleshy, textured, saline and highly stimulating Spätlese that already drinks beautifully (a bit of reduction is part of the style) and will age for decades.
