The color is clear, a beautiful dark ruby. Its nose reveals a mixture of fruity aromas, with a touch of warmth coming from roasted notes. On the palate, it is soft and fruity, with silky tannins which leave a pleasant flavor at the end of tasting. This grand cru promises exceptional aging potential.

Faiveley is an Iconic Domaine in the best sense of the term. They have both history and pedigree (almost 200 years and 7 generations old), but also innovation as current managers Erwan and Eve Faiveley look to the future. For years, they were considered one of the large, but high quality, negociants in Burgundy – companies that source grapes from third-party growers for wine production. But now they are a true domaine, with many prized holdings in Burgundy, farmed organically, that yield some of the region’s most sought-after wines.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 94
"The 2020 Echézeaux En Orveau Grand Cru (the lieu-dit has been stated on the label since 2018) has a perfumed, quite floral bouquet with dark cherries, wild strawberry and raspberry fruit, the marl terroir coming through with time. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red fruit, the 20% whole bunch imparting a pleasing peppery note and energy on the finish. This should age with style." -Vinous

"The 2020 Echézeaux En Orveaux Grand Cru bursts with aromas of sweet red berries, rose petals, peonies, orange rind, plums and cinnamon. Medium to full-bodied, broad and enveloping, with powdery tannins, lively acids and a long, precise finish, this, too, is very promising." -Robert Parker

"20% of the grapes are whole-cluster fermented, and the wine has bright blackberry and floral notes on the nose. The cool site imbues the wine with a lovely freshness and firm tannic structure. This will open with a few years in bottle and should age well. This is produced from 0.83ha of domaine-owned vines planted in the white marl soils of the Combe d'Orveaux (and labelled as such)."

Wine Spectator

WS 95
"Aromatic and loaded with exotic spices, showing sandalwood, incense, strawberry, cherry and anise aromas and flavors. Simultaneously dense and elegant, with fine harmony and a terrific finish. Just keeps building and building on the palate to the long, kaleidoscopic conclusion."
