This Pinot Noir from Chagny and Remigny in the Côte de Beaune displays translucent ruby color with aromas of tart cherries and redcurrants. Now in its fourth generation, Domaine Paul Pillot employs minimal intervention in the cellar—natural fermentation and judicious use of new oak allow terroir to shine. The wine reveals great complexity and pleasant freshness, making it an ideal entry point to the house's philosophy of balance and precision.

Thierry Pillot is killing it! He is a super-talented vigneron, and since he has taken over his family's domain the quality has gone through the roof. He is one of those rare characters who is equally good at making red and white wines.

They have 13 hectares of vines in the domaine, 1/3 red and 2/3 white. The whites are very concentrated because of the frost and the reds are supple and elegant, really classic. Like many young vignerons, Thierry has also set up a micro-negociant under his own name.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 88
"The 2023 Bourgogne Rouge has a ripe nose with dark cherries and crushed strawberry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins for a generic red. Lightly spiced with gentle grip on the finish, this is a very satisfying Pinot that will drink well for three to five years." -Neal Martin

Robert Parker

RP 89
"Aromas of sweet cherries, berries and petals introduce the 2023 Bourgogne Rouge, a medium-bodied, lively wine with a sweet core of fruit and fine, chalky tannins." -William Kelley
