Thierry Pillot is killing it! He is a super-talented vigneron, and since he has taken over his family's domain the quality has gone through the roof. He is one of those rare characters who is equally good at making red and white wines.

They have 13 hectares of vines in the domaine, 1/3 red and 2/3 white. The whites are very concentrated because of the frost and the reds are supple and elegant, really classic. Like many young vignerons, Thierry has also set up a micro-negociant under his own name.

Professional Reviews

Burghound

BH 95
"This too is very firmly reduced and revealing nothing. There is fine richness to the solidly concentrated and powerful medium-bodied flavors that flash plenty of minerality on the more complex and beautifully well-balanced finale that goes on and on. This is sublime, indeed it’s quite classy, and a wine that should age accordingly over the next decade plus. If you can find it, buy it."

"The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet La Romanée 1er Cru has a more discrete nose than the La Grande Montagne due to a very minor reduction. The palate is also showing a little reduction (it will be racked in the future). But there is plenty of weight and tension in this Chassagne, perhaps one cuvée that will require longer in bottle." -Neal Martin

Robert Parker

"The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Romanée is the most reductive wine in the range, unwinding in the glass with aromas of crisp stone fruits, apple blossom, toasted almonds and struck match. Medium to full-bodied, dense and concentrated, its satiny attack segues into a layered, structured mid-palate, girdled by racy acids, and concluding with a long, chalky finish." -William Kelley
