Thierry Pillot is killing it! He is a super-talented vigneron, and since he has taken over his family's domain the quality has gone through the roof. He is one of those rare characters who is equally good at making red and white wines.

They have 13 hectares of vines in the domaine, 1/3 red and 2/3 white. The whites are very concentrated because of the frost and the reds are supple and elegant, really classic. Like many young vignerons, Thierry has also set up a micro-negociant under his own name.

"This is the first wine to display any appreciable reduction and it's enough to render the nose difficult to evaluate. More interesting are the sleek, racy, detailed and intensely mineral-driven middle weight flavors that also possess a beguiling texture while delivering excellent length on the balanced, youthfully austere and more compact finale. This does need to develop better depth but that should just be a matter of patience. Lovely."

"The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet Caillerets 1er Cru has a nicely detailed bouquet of crushed stone and flint that opens discretely with aeration. A light fish scale scent/oyster shell comes through, saline and poised. The palate has a little more weight and girth than the other cuvées, and there is a little more extract than the Clos Saint-Jean on the finish. Bon vin." -Neal Martin

"The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets is terrific, mingling aromas of pear, orange zest, toasted hazelnuts, white flowers and wet stones in an inviting bouquet, followed by a medium to full-bodied, dense and layered palate that's concentrated and structured, concluding with a long, chalky finish." -William Kelley
