Benoit Dehu has made a name for himself producing Blanc de Noirs Champagnes in the single parcel, single vintage, single grape (for the most part) style that has become popular among the best Grower Champagnes. His wines are resonant and powerful with a distinctly vinous style that merits a place on the dinner table.Dehu learned to master red grapes working for Bollinger, Champagne's Queen of Pinot Noir. On his own, Benoit Dehu became a Pinot Meunier specialist, working his family's vineyards on the western edge of the Vallée de la Marne. Starting in 2011, he started bottling wines under his own name from a single parcel called La Rue des Noyers -- 100% Pinot Meunier, farmed biodynamically, and ploughed mostly by horse. In 2015, he started blending some of this Meunier with Pinot Noir from a nearby plot, and calls it Initiation. He also makes an Initiation Rosé, a 75/25 Meunier/Pinot Noir blend. All wines are aged in barrels made from oak growing in a nearby forest. Dosages are very low or non-existent.
