These wines of Domaine Francois Bertheau gain in stature every year and the tiny amounts that come into the U.S. are very sought after. These old fashioned wines are reminiscent of the great wines of Jacky Truchot - great purity and focus with lots of mouthweight or "matiere grasse". Francois Bertheau took over from his father Pierre 13 years ago and the wines - which have always been very good - are now even better. He is a meticulous grape grower. He uses a maximum of 20% new oak, usually 10% or less. This is an elite Chambolle domaine on a par with the unaffordable superstars of this extraordinary village on the Cote D'Or.
