In a region that these days is strongly identified with small, young estates, Domaine Huards is something of an anomaly. Founded in the 1840s, the property has some 37ha under vine and growing, with a focus on Romorantin. The vineyard land is surrounded by another 25ha of forest and hayfields, so it was easy for seventh-generation Alexandre Gendrier’s father to begin conversion to organic viticulture in 1995 and biodynamic a decade later (now certified in both). Everything here is fueled by passion and pride, but is measured and meticulous.
