We are thrilled to be welcoming Letizia Patané of Sicily's trailblazing Passopisciaro winery and our own, Flori Kennedy, for a very special seminar next Thursday, May 16th at 5pm.
When founder Andrea Franchetti visited the majestic island in 2000, his keen eye picked out abandoned vineyards on the northern side of Mount Etna with the unique combination of high-elevation terraces and varied, black lava soils. His presence on Etna over the ensuing decades sparked the renaissance of viticulture on the mountain, stimulating international discovery and appreciation of the special wines of Etna. Franchetti passed away in 2021, but the legacy of his devotion to Mount Etna’s forgotten single vineyards (contrade) and champion of its noble red grape, Nerello Mascalese, endures.
Considered one of the top estates in Sicily, Passopisciaro is a force to be reckoned with; a name mentioned alongside trailblazing contemporaries like Salvo Foti, Terre Nere’s Marco de Grazia, and the Benanti brothers, all producers who we love and have written about extensively. If you love the wines of Mount Etna for their unique mineral character and magical terroirs, these are stunning benchmark wines you won’t want to miss.
In this guided tasting you'll make your way through the the entire range of Passopisciaro’s current releases, including all five 2021 Contrada single-vineyard bottlings, and the 2021 Le Cupole from Andrea’s project in Tuscany. Be prepared to learn, make connections and enjoy an engaging and interactive discussion.
Join us as we dive deep into the magic of Mount Etna and the brilliance of Passopisciaro with two experts in all things Italian wine.
There are a limited number of seats available for what promises to be a truly amazing evening, so please act fast!
