What is this wine?
Croix & Courbet is a small, highly regarded domaine in Pupillin (Jura), run by Régis and Nathalie Croix along with their son-in-law Florent Courbet, whose family also owns the respected Domaine Courbet. Together, they farm their Arbois and Pupillin vineyards organically, with deep respect for Jura’s limestone and marl terroirs.
The Arbois “En Chemenot” 2020 comes from a single, south-facing parcel in Arbois planted to Chardonnay, grown on blue marl and limestone soils typical of the region’s best terroirs. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with native yeasts, and the wine is aged for about a year in old oak barrels. It is made ouillé (topped up, not oxidative), preserving freshness and terroir expression.
Why get this wine?
This is textbook Jura Chardonnay—vibrant, mineral, and layered, bridging the finesse of Burgundy with the distinctive saline character of the Jura. Croix & Courbet’s wines are gaining international recognition for their precision and purity, and En Chemenot is among their most complete and balanced cuvées. The 2020 vintage brings ripe fruit balanced by tension and minerality.
What does this wine taste like?
Complex yet refined, showing lemon curd, green apple, hazelnut, and crushed stone. The palate is vivid and chalky, with notes of citrus zest and subtle savory depth, finishing long and saline.
When should you drink this wine?
Drink now for freshness or hold through 2030 to develop nutty complexity. Excellent with Comté, poultry in cream sauce, or trout with almonds.
