100% Grillo. To make Vecchio Samperi, the De Bartoli's use the ancient perpetuum aging method (similar to Solera system) that, through the addition of some new, young wine to wines that are already being aged in barrels, allows to create a harmonious blend of different vintages, with a unique and inimitable taste.

The di Bartoli estate is actually two wineries, the original family estate that Marco resurrected in Samperi on the western end of Sicily, and a newer one on the smaller island of Pantelleria. Samperi is in the heart of Marsala country while Pantelleria has long been known for passito dessert wines.

"Revolutionary non-fortified dry Grillo made in 'perpetuo' (like a solera), balancing austerity with abundance, freshness with purity. Biodynamic."

Light, dry, and acidic

I am not a Marsala expert, having only had a few of the common products widely available state-side. This was supposed to be bundled with panettone and an atomizer to refresh the wine with which the bread was originally infused. I think it would work very well for that use and to infuse other desserts.

It is golden amber in color, smells a bit like vermouth, tastes surprisingly acidic but smooth. Would be best to balance very sweet pastries.
