"The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Raunate pulls the taster close to the glass to take in its hauntingly dark bouquet. Cedar shavings, sage, white smoke, blackberry, tobacco and clove are all featured in the glass. This is elegance to the extreme, creamy, nearly velvety, with ripe red and black fruits complicated by inner sage and hints of cocoa. A bump of zesty acidity keeps the energy high even as this finishes tannic and potent. It has a staining of primary concentration that will unfurl over time. The balance and concentration here are remarkable, yet patience will be necessary." -Eric Guido
