From the producer:

Area : 0,69 ha
Age of the vines : 50 years old
Average annual production: 5000 bottles
Grape variety : Pinot Noir

Localisation :
The main parcel (42 ares) is situated in the Argillières, the name of which gives a clue of the nature of the soil. This parcel continues the Musigny vines in the North at the entrance of the Chambolle comb. This parcel produces a cuvée with an unusual strength and density for a Chambolle village, and in this view it is rather similar to a Premier Cru.
Four other small parcels are situated in the following localities : Nazoires, Maladières and Mombies.
All these plots lie on the alluvial cone of the comb, their subsoil is therefore very stony, which ensures perfect drainage.

The term "dynasty" is often used when discussing the Gros Family because of the enormous impact they've had on the recent history of winemaking in Burgundy. The Domaine Gros dates to the early 1800's, but after Jean Gros retired in the early 1990's it was split into 4 estates.

Jean's son Michel inherited the entirety of the Monopole 1er Cru vineyard "Clos Reas" and a few other parcels and has been steadily acquiring other vineyards. Today he farms around 18 hectares in Vosne-Romanée and the surrounding villages.

Michel is both an innovator and a sharp student of tradition. He isn't afraid to experiment a little in the cellar but his focus is always on producing wines of terroir and history. His style emphasizes rich fruit and elegance in balance with the power and longevity of Vosne and Nuits-St-Georges.

With 40 years of experience under his belt now Michel Gros has an excellent grasp of how to best transfer his terroir into the glass.

"Firm reduction renders the nose unreadable at present. The sleeker and finer middleweight flavors possess very good punch as well as a subtle minerality that carries over to the dusty, compact and youthfully austere finale that flirts with rusticity." -Allen Meadows

"The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny Village offers one of my favorite aromatics amongst the Domaine's wines: black cherries, wild strawberries, sous-bois and light tobacco. The palate is smooth with filigree tannins, well-judged acidity, and a caressing and Vosne-like finish with plenty of allure. Very persistent, this Chambolle punches well above its weight."
