Nicolas Bindi grew up on Corsica but, like many island-dwellers, dreamed of escaping to the mainland and leaving its rocky shores behind. He moved to Paris and studied law—and almost immediately realized the lawyer life was not for him.
So he found a new dream: moving back to his Mediterranean island to become a vigneron. After a brief stopover in Beaujolais and several years working with both Antoine Arena and Domaine Leccia, Nicolas established his own domaine.
Today he works 15 hectares of indigenous grapes on Corsica’s rocky Western Coast. Nicolas worked tirelessly to transition his farming to organic and, after eight years of effort, finally achieved this goal in 2015. He uses only native yeasts, works each vine by hand and adds only miniscule amounts of SO2 at bottling.
All of this is done with one goal in mind—to perfectly encapsulate the terroir of his beloved homeland. Each plot of vines is planted to a specific soil type—the wine on offer today is planted on a clay-limestone blend, amplifying its minerality while giving it a cool, concentrated core of fruit and power.
