Perrières in a rare vintage. The 2021 growing season was one of Burgundy's most challenging—cold, wet, and windy during flowering—resulting in tiny yields and scarce bottles. What survived is mineral, taut, and driving: pure Burgundy DNA without the density of warmer years. Charles Ballot (17th generation at Domaine Ballot-Millot) farms organically, follows the lunar cycle, and keeps new oak to a maximum of 25%. The Perrières vineyard—named for the stone quarries that once supplied local villages—sits on thin, rocky limestone soils that produce wines of striking minerality and Grand Cru-level intensity. Aged 12 months in barrel, six months in tank.

Ballot-Millot et Fils is an outstanding domaine in Meursault with phenomenal holdings in the village's top crus, Charles Ballot is producing precise, tensile, racy yet exuberant wines. There is very little new oak used. These are modern white Burgundies, they are transparent and reflect their respective terroirs.

Charles has been in charge of the farming, winemaking, and cellar work since 2001. His grandparents started the domaine, and he inherited additional vines from his mother, who is related to the Lochardet-Dancer family. He farms according to lutte raisonnée — he works as organically as he can without sacrificing the crop. New oak is limited to 15% for village wines and up to 25% for the premier crus. The wines are bottled after about 16 months in barrel.
