One of Chassagne-Montrachet's greatest Premier Cru vineyards, perched at the top of a steep east-facing slope. La Romanée's shallow, pebbly calcareous soils drain quickly and force vines to root deep into limestone bedrock—producing wines of energy, finesse, and remarkable texture. Château de la Maltroye, family-owned since 1941 and revitalized by Jean-Pierre Cournut since 1993, holds a prime parcel here. The 2020 vintage's transparency to terroir makes this an exceptional expression of the site.
