"from vines planted in 1934 that directly abut Charmes-Chambertin. Once again, the expressive and layered nose is notably ripe while managing to retain good freshness to the baked plum, cassis and spice aromas. There is excellent density to the intense, sappy and palate coating medium-bodied flavors that terminate in a bitter pit fruit, austere and very firm finale. This too is a fine Gevrey villages that is an impressive combination of refinement and power."

"The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Champs-Chenys has a perfumed and floral nose - peony and iris flower complementing the black cherry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, fine acidity, but then like the Clos Prieur Bas it clams up towards the finish and says "Come Back Later."" -Vinous

"The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Champs-Chenys Vieilles Vignes is the most serious of Roty's lieu-dit bottlings, unwinding in the glass with aromas of sweet cherries, blackberries, spices, licorice and rose petal. Medium to full-bodied, layered and velvety, it's deep and concentrated, with ripe tannins and a complete, seamless profile."
