From the importer: This dry village wine is from the middle area of the Grand Cru Hofberg. The 40 year old vines get picked in mid-October. After a gentle pressing and settling, the juice ferments in Fuder barrels and stainless steel tanks (50-50).

Left Riesling

A. J. Adam takes us to Dhron, just off the much-beaten path of the Mosel river. Dhron is named for a river that flows into the Mosel. Its steep, slatey vineyards form the tributaries northern bank.

The sites are steeper and at higher altitude than most of Mosel. The wines are a little wispier and saltier. The fruit is cooler and whiter.

Adam is Dhron's undisputed star. He makes extraordinary dry Rieslings and Kabinetts from Hofberg, the top site in Dhron.

"From 65-year-old vines and vinified in fuders until mid-April this year the 2019 Dhroner Hofberg Riesling Trocken is concentrated and flinty on the detailed complex highly aromatic yet refined and slatey nose. Crystalline and pure on the palate this is a round lush and mouthwatering Riesling with a distinctive character and finesse and a juicy finish. Very elegant and aromatic. 12% alcohol. Tasted at the domain in September 2020."
