Domaine de Terrebrune was founded in the 1960s by a Parisian ex-sommelier (even the French dream of running away to Provence). Georges Delille spent over a decade modifying the estate to his liking, and with help from Domaine Tempier’s Lucien Peyraud, replanted the vines to mostly Mourvèdre, a notoriously finicky grape, yet one whose unique structure and flavor profile make it worth the effort. The farming is organic, the soils are fertile and mineral-rich, and the sea breezes keep away mildew and pests. We’re all familiar with Provençal rosés by now, but Bandol is a special place with unique potential for longevity. The climate conditions (tempered by cooling limestone soils and maritime winds) and the dominant grape variety (Mourvèdre and its firm tannins) play a part, as do the talented winemakers who call the region home.
