Blessed with crisp mountain air, early springs, and long, luscious summers, Applegate Valley became a distinct wine appellation in 2001, splitting off from the surrounding Rogue Valley. This is a Goldilocks wine growing region (dry and warm, but not too dry and warm--just right) and thus boasts the ability to grow almost anything. This is where you will often find the married winemaking team of Bee and Ross Maloof. While their winery and home vineyard are near Dundee in the Willamette, the Maloofs have been sourcing grapes from the Applegate Valley for almost the entirety of their winery's short life. In just four years they have taken the natural wine world by storm with their single vineyard bottlings and blends.
You could call the Maloof wines seriously irreverent. Serious in that there is a great deal of talent and care poured into the making of each wine. The irreverence comes through the sheer joy of drinking any of their wines. The wines are, simply put, delicious. Like nothing else out there, each glass seems to possess within it a joyous quality that is hard to describe.
