Dashe Cellars has made Late Harvest Zinfandels since 1997. This luscious and balanced dessert wine has been one of their most notable wines. This particular Late Harvest Zinfandel is made from grapes grown on the Lily Hill Vineyard, owned by their friends, Scott and Lynn Adams, at Bella Winery in northern Dry Creek Valley. The steep slopes and rocky soil make the vines struggle to survive, which in turn help the vines create concentrated, complex grapes. One of the reasons they love this vineyard is the wonderful acidity of the grapes. The resulting wine is focused and clear–it’s never cloying, and always finishes with a crisp, clean, sweet-spicy note.

The East Bay has long been an epicenter of the of the Urban Wine Revolution and Michael and Anne Dashe were early pioneers. With advanced degrees in enology and complimentary wine making backgrounds, they founded Dashe Cellars in 1996. Located in Jack London Square, the Dashe's have been producing delicious, terroir driven wines for almost twenty years now.

Michael and Anne have worked for some of the world best wineries but it was Michael’s time at Ridge working with the great Paul Draper that has left its greatest mark on Dashe Cellars. Paul exposed Michael to the heart and soul of California’s great varietal: Zinfandel. They work with some of the best Zinfandel vineyards in the world (with a focus on the dry creek valley), crafting energetic elegant and downright delicious wines.

In making their wines, the Dashes’ adhere to a minimalist philosophy – native rather than cultivated yeasts, natural malolactic fermentation, little sulphur, light filtering, not much oak. Their releases could qualify for the popular if ambiguous designation of “natural wines,” but they shy away from that classification. They simply want to make the purest expression of Zinfandel.
