What is this wine?
Domaine Cécile Tremblay, founded in 2003, has quickly risen to cult status in Burgundy thanks to Cécile’s meticulous biodynamic farming and elegant, whole-cluster-influenced style. Les Beaumonts is a premier cru in Vosne-Romanée, lying just north of Richebourg, with clay-limestone soils that produce Pinot Noir of perfume, richness, and refined structure. The 2018 vintage was warm and generous, yielding concentrated, ripe wines with depth, balance, and long-term cellaring potential.

Why get this wine?
Cécile Tremblay’s wines are among the rarest and most sought-after in the Côte de Nuits, with microscopic allocations and global demand. Les Beaumonts is one of her standout crus, combining Vosne’s silken perfume with the richness of the vintage. For collectors, this is a rare chance to secure a bottle from one of Burgundy’s brightest stars.

What does this wine taste like?
Dark cherry, raspberry, and blackberry with rose petal, exotic spice, and herbal lift. Concentrated yet elegant, with supple tannins, lively acidity, and a long, mineral-driven finish.

When should you drink this wine?
Best 2026–2042. Decant if drinking young. Ideal with refined dishes such as duck breast, venison, or truffle-infused cuisine.

Cecile Tremblay's family has owned small parcels of fine vineyards for many years, all the time leasing them to top vignerons in long term sharecrop deals. In 2002, Cecile graduated from wine school and became the first member of her family to make wine from this great collection of vineyards. Now three hectares are in her care. As the sharecropping leases expire, Cecile regains control of more and more fantastic old-vine Côte de Nuits vineyards. Over the last 11 vintages, hers have rapidly become some of the most sought-after wines in Burgundy.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

"The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux Monts 1er Cru has a vivid bouquet of raspberry and wild strawberry fruit laced with wilted rose petals and orange pith; good lift here. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins, good acidity and a lightly spiced and very elegant finish. There is an understated quality about this Vosne-Romanée that is very appealing; a cool customer, you might say. Very impressive wine from Cécile Tremblay." -Neal Martin

"Bottled this spring, the 2018 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaumonts has turned out very well, unwinding in the glass with a youthfully reserved bouquet of raspberries, caramelized orange rind, rose petals and spices. Medium to full-bodied, deep and velvety, it's deep and concentrated, with lively acids and fine, chalky tannins. Readers with bottles in their cellar should forget it for a decade." -William Kelley

"Less open than the Feusselottes. Peppery scent like stone dust, overlaying seemingly effortless concentration. Unexpectedly juicy on the palate, the tannins are so fine and precise. Ripe but elegant. Refined and long. I hesitated on the score but I think this is going to get even better." -Julia Harding MW
