Ghislaine Barthod’s Les Chatelots 2022 comes from a small, upper-slope parcel of ~25-year-old vines nestled between Les Feusselottes and Les Gruenchers. This site yields a more structured, earth-driven expression of Chambolle.

The domaine ferments with native yeasts and ages the wine in modest new oak for clarity and precision. Les Chatelots shows firm tannins and mineral depth, a contrast to Barthod’s more delicate premiers crus.

Les Chatelots sits just above Aux Combottes on the slope, directly below the village of Chambolle itself, and sandwiched between the great premier crus Les Feusselottes and Les Gruenchers. Barthod owns a mere quarter of a hectare of 25-year-old vines here, and this wine consistently offers a pronounced earthiness and a powerful sense of structure.
