Hudelot-Noëllat farms old vines in Les Suchots, a Premier Cru nestled between Romanée-Saint-Vivant and Échézeaux. The 2020 vintage shows the site’s natural opulence and perfume, shaped by careful destemming and restrained oak use.

Dark fruit and spice unfold with clarity and tension. It’s a structured, age-worthy Vosne that captures the domaine’s elegant, terroir-first approach.

Left Sustainably Farmed

Burgundy domaines are reinvigorated, even reborn, when a new generation joins a venerable establishment. When Alain Hudelot-Noellat retired in 2008 his grandson Charles Van Canneyt took over the reins; since then Hudelot-Noellat has just gotten better and better. The wine quality, which was always very good, has risen dramatically. Like many of the new generation of Burgundian winemakers, Charles focuses on meticulous grape farming and limiting yield in the vineyards - quantities are lower but the quality is greatly improved.

"This parcel of 0.45ha was planted more than 100 years ago on the lower slopes of Suchots; the main portion is located midway between Romanée-St-Vivant and Echézeaux. This shows exquisite balance between the floral-scented cherry perfume of the latter and the richness of the former. The texture is rich, but silky and very fine, and the finish lingers gently on the palate. Yields are low and the grapes were partially destemmed and gently fermented."
