What is this wine?
Domaine Henri Boillot is one of Burgundy’s benchmark producers, renowned for white wines of crystalline precision and intensity. Les Perrières is Meursault’s most celebrated premier cru—often called “grand cru in all but name”—with rocky limestone soils that yield Chardonnay of minerality, tension, and great longevity. The 2018 vintage was warm and sunny, producing ripe, concentrated whites that remain balanced and cellar-worthy in the hands of a producer like Boillot.

Why get this wine?
Boillot’s style emphasizes purity and structure, making his Perrières one of the finest expressions of this storied vineyard. The 2018 combines the cru’s hallmark energy with the vintage’s generous ripeness, resulting in a wine that is both immediately seductive and capable of decades of evolution. For collectors, this is a reference-point Meursault.

What does this wine taste like?
Ripe pear, citrus, and white peach with notes of hazelnut, acacia, and crushed stone. Concentrated yet elegant, with vibrant acidity and a long, saline, mineral finish.

When should you drink this wine?
Best 2025–2040. Decant young bottles to reveal its layered complexity. Ideal with lobster, scallops, roast chicken, or aged cheeses.

There is biodynamic, and then there is biodynamic. Champagne Marguet is maybe the most fervently biodynamic producer we have ever come across.

If you go to Benoit Marguet's website, you have the the usual tabs devoted to contact information, wines, and vineyard sites. You also have one devoted to his horse. He considers his horse, which feeds on flora at the winery, to be part of his terroir.

Or take his preparations. Most producers purchase theirs in the national or international marketplace. Benoit makes his entirely from materials he grows himself. That’s dedication!

When it comes to the wines, Marguet follows a Burgundy-like hierarchy. He’s got multi-terroir blends. He’s got single vineyards expressions—his lieu dits. In between, he has a range of village Champagnes that showcase the special terroirs of his villages.

He makes the wine using his extreme methods. He uses only old barrels, and allows the wines to naturally complete their malolactic fermentations. He uses virtually no sulphur, and no dosage.
