Roagna’s 2014 Barolo Paje is a single-vineyard Nebbiolo from one of the iconic crus in Barolo, known for its clay and limestone soils. The estate practices organic farming and traditional winemaking with native yeast fermentation and aging in large Slavonian oak casks.

This Barolo offers intense aromas of cherry, rose, tar, and spice with firm tannins and bright acidity. It’s a powerful, age-worthy wine with classic Barolo structure and complexity.

Luca Roagna and his family have been making some of the greatest wines in Piemonte for generations, and the quality just keeps rising. Anyone will be able to respect and admire the work of Luca Roagna: no step taken in the vineyard or the winery is without complete follow-through of thought.

Standing in the middle of one of their vineyards, you almost forget it's a place to grow grapes. Grass, insects and wildlife flourish throughout the vines, which are never subjected to chemical sprays, mowing or tilling. The biosphere is diverse and vigorous, the soils healthy: the result is impeccably grown grapes ready to become impeccably made wine.

Antonio Galloni

"Cinnamon, cedar, sweet pipe tobacco and leather are some of the nuances that emerge from the 2014 Barbaresco Pajè. Pliant and open-knit, the 2014 is surprisingly open for a young Roagna Barbaresco, which makes it almost shockingly easy to enjoy even now (in relative terms), in what is the very early going by Roagna standards. Even, so there is plenty of Nebbiolo structure and tannin. Sweet rose petal, mint, tobacco, underbrush, game, and sweet red berry fruit add to the wine's stunning allure." -Antonio Galloni

"The 2014 Barbaresco Pajè is probably the most representative wine from the Roagna family. This 1.8-hectare parcel has been in family hands since 1953. Pajè (located in the comune of Barbaresco) shows ample structure and power, making a fitting platform to carry its expressive bouquet. Wild rose, lavender, sour cherry, licorice root and plenty of balsam herb lift beautifully from the glass. The wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts and sees five years of aging between wood and cement. This 8,400-bottle release is a true classic from the 2014 vintage."

"Mentholated cherry and spice aromas yield to vibrant plum, cherry, leather and tobacco flavors. This keeps coming at you, with a core of sweet, ripe fruit offsetting the grainy tannins on the finish."
