"The 2020 Pinot Noir Ignis comes from soils with much less clay than the Vrede in the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde. The vines have been farmed organically since 2015. Crisp and focused on the nose, this has a little more marine influence, just a hint of oyster shell filtering through the dark berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with a sappy entry, just a little more grip and chewiness than the Vrede, suggesting that it will benefit from 12-18 months in bottle. Lovely spicy aftertaste here." -Neal Martin

"Shows hints of smoke, rhubarb and stemmy herbs that are up-front and pungent on the nose, gradually opening on the palate to reveal cherry and cranberry reduction, citrus and spice notes. Chewy and savory, let this lively red open in the glass. Best after 2024."
