What is this wine?
Tenuta di Gracciano della Seta Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2021 is a classic Sangiovese-based red from one of the oldest estates in Montepulciano, Tuscany. The Gracciano della Seta family has owned this historic property since the 19th century, and today the estate farms 20 hectares of vineyards organically around the prized Gracciano cru. The wine is made mostly from Prugnolo Gentile (the local Sangiovese clone) with small portions of Canaiolo and Merlot, aged for about 18 months in large Slavonian oak casks and French tonneaux.
Why get this wine?
This is benchmark, old-school Vino Nobile: elegant, structured, and deeply tied to its terroir. Tenuta di Gracciano is known for producing wines of purity and balance rather than power, making this 2021 vintage a superb expression of Sangiovese’s finesse. It offers exceptional value for a noble Tuscan red that rivals many Brunellos in pedigree and aging potential.
What does this wine taste like?
Medium-bodied with aromas of cherry, red plum, and dried herbs, supported by notes of cedar, leather, and spice. The palate is harmonious and refined, with bright acidity and polished tannins leading to a long, savory finish.
When should you drink this wine?
Drink 2025–2033. Decant for an hour if young. Excellent with pasta al ragù, roast pork, or aged pecorino.
