What is this wine?
The Venturini family has been farming vines in the hills of San Floriano, in the heart of Valpolicella Classica, for three generations. Their Recioto della Valpolicella is made from hand-harvested Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella grapes that are partially dried (appassimento) for several months before fermentation. The result is a rich, sweet red wine—Valpolicella’s historic style, from which Amarone was later developed. The 2021 vintage was balanced and generous, producing wines of concentration and freshness.
Why get this wine?
Recioto is a jewel of the Veneto, far rarer than Amarone and treasured for its luscious fruit balanced by natural acidity. Venturini’s version is traditional and artisanal, offering both authenticity and charm. It’s a perfect dessert wine for lovers of rich reds, and a brilliant match for chocolate.
What does this wine taste like?
Dark cherry, blackberry, and dried plum with notes of cocoa, spice, and fig. Full-bodied, velvety, and sweet, with balancing freshness and a lingering finish.
When should you drink this wine?
Delicious now through 2035. Serve slightly cool. Ideal with chocolate desserts, berry tarts, or strong cheeses like Gorgonzola.
