Domaine du Clos Frantin’s 1985 Grands-Échezeaux Grand Cru comes from clay-limestone soils in the “Champs Traversins” sector, just above Échezeaux. Under the Albert Bichot label, this cuvée was vinified traditionally and aged in French oak to highlight structure and finesse.

The 1985 vintage offers a mature, elegant profile—floral spice, dried plum, and earthy complexity balanced by fine tannins. A classic expression from one of Burgundy’s most distinguished Grand Crus.

Professional Reviews

Burghound

BH 92
"There is a mild hint of lactic character to the otherwise spicy nose that offers up plenty of secondary fruit and earth elements but notably no sous-bois at this point. There is excellent power and punch to the delicious and attractively textured broad-shouldered flavors that deliver very fine depth and length on the ever-so-slightly warm finale. This is not technically perfect but on the plus side it is a wine that is drinking beautifully and should continue to do so over the next decade."

"The profound Grands Echezeaux is absolutely superb. The wines from the Clos Frantin vineyards in the Cote de Nuits and their Chablis estate, Long-Depaquit, rank with the finest made in Burgundy." -Robert Parker
