What is this wine?
Henri Boillot is a benchmark domaine in the Côte de Beaune, known for precise, mineral-driven Chardonnays that rank among the region’s finest. Genevrières is one of Meursault’s greatest premiers crus, prized for its combination of richness and finesse, with vineyards planted on stony limestone and marl soils. The 2020 vintage in Burgundy was warm but balanced, producing concentrated, structured whites with remarkable tension and age-worthiness.

Why get this wine?
Boillot’s wines are highly sought after for their clarity and energy, and his Genevrières consistently shows why the vineyard is considered Meursault at its most refined. This bottling delivers depth, elegance, and precision, rivaling top Côte de Beaune crus at a lower price point than grand crus. A superb cellar candidate for serious Burgundy lovers.

What does this wine taste like?
Lemon curd, pear, and white peach with layers of hazelnut, acacia blossom, and wet stone minerality. Full yet precise, with vibrant acidity and a long, saline finish.

When should you drink this wine?
Delicious with a decant now, but best 2025–2040. Ideal with lobster, scallops, roast poultry, or creamy cheeses.

Professional Reviews

Burghound

"A naturally exotic nose offers up hints of freshly sliced ginger, jasmine tea, pear and plenty of floral elements. The more subtle and notably finer medium weight flavors exude a light minerality on the caressing and seductive finish that is lemony, bone-dry and sneaky long finale. This is compact and serious, and I would suggest allowing this a minimum of 5 years of cellaring first."

Decanter

"The result is a bit closed initially, but with time the fruit begins to take shape - ripe pear, beeswax, mineral and marzipan. The texture is very subtle and elegant, retaining a surprising level of acidity that leads it to a lovely, lingering finish. Produced from a domaine-owned parcel of 0.16ha, the fruit is lightly crushed and pressed in a vertical press, prior to fermenting in cask (25% new) and ageing for 14 months."
