Looking forward to the week ahead- December 2nd, 2019

Dear Friends of Flatiron,

We hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving and enjoyed toasting with friends and family. But the party is just getting started! This is a busy week at Flatiron full of tastings and offers to stuff your stockings.

This Weeks Tastings

Tuesday December 6th
Meet the Winemaker: Noel Diaz from Purity Wines from 5 to 7pm- If you crave natural, unique, cutting edge wines that expand the definition of what California wine is than Purity Wines are made for you. From slurpable Touriga Nacional to lusciously fruity skin-contact Roussanne Noel Diaz does natural wines right. And they don't cost a gazillion dollars either! Join us for natty trip through Californian wine.

Wednesday December 7th
Maître de Chai Winery from 5 to 7pm- Maître de Chai translates to cellar master, or the person responsible for the development and aging of wine. Established in 2012, Maître de Chai is the personal project of Marty Winters and Alex Pitts. Their wines are a reflection of their dedication to careful winemaking with as little intervention as possible. For a project that we hadn't been aware of we were deeply impressed with every single one of their wines. We look forward to you discovering them as well!

Thursday December 8th
Champagne EXTRAVAGANZA! from 5 to 7pm- This is for all you friends of the fizz! A night to toast with our favorite sparkling wines and preview what you should stock up on for Christmas and New Years. There will be stations around the store where different Champagnes will be poured, so you can peruse and taste simultaneously. We'll be pouring over 45 Champagnes so we guarantee there will be something you'll fall in love with

Friday December 9th
Meet the Winemaker: Phil Baxter from Baxter Wines from 5 to 7pm- It was almost 6 months ago when Phil Baxter first poured his wines at Flatiron and caused something of a frenzy amongst staff and customers alike. Why? Simply, his wines are flat out fantastic! Seriously though, his Pinot Noirs are some of the best quality-for-price examples we have found anywhere in the U.S., not to mention his out of this world Nebbiolo. People who know, and there are many of our customers who have fallen in love as much as we have, buy these wines by the case. These wines are a steal right now, but we get the feeling it won't be long before others catch on.

Feaured in our weekly newsletter we're excited to be offering a fresh take on Right Bank Bordeaux from Chateau Le Puy, the elusive Savart Rosé Champagne, one of the best Nebbiolos we've had outside of Piedmont from Baxter Winery, and the 2017 releases from Domaine Saint Damien in Gigondas.
