What is this wine?
Domaine Morey-Coffinet, based in Chassagne-Montrachet and led by Michel Morey and his son Thibault, has steadily built a reputation for producing precise, terroir-driven white Burgundies. En Cailleret is one of Chassagne’s greatest premier crus, sitting just below the Grand Cru of Le Montrachet, with limestone-rich soils that yield wines of remarkable finesse and longevity. The 2019 vintage was warm and generous, producing concentrated whites that retain freshness and tension.

Why get this wine?
Morey-Coffinet has emerged as one of the top domaines in Chassagne, and their Cailleret is a benchmark bottling. It combines the richness of the vintage with taut minerality, delivering near–grand cru pedigree at a premier cru price. For collectors, it’s a serious, age-worthy white Burgundy from a rising-star domaine.

What does this wine taste like?
Ripe pear, peach, and citrus with notes of hazelnut, acacia, and chalky minerality. Concentrated yet precise, with vibrant acidity and a long, saline finish.

When should you drink this wine?
Best 2024–2038. Decant if drinking young. Perfect with lobster, scallops, turbot, or roast chicken.

Burghound

"An interesting nose combines notes of mineral reduction and exotic fruit hints in the form of white peach and passion fruit, along with pretty spice and floral hints. The finer and more intense medium-bodied flavors exude plenty of minerality on the bitter lemon suffused finish that demonstrates very fine length. This too could use better depth, but more will almost certainly develop if allowed time."

"The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet En Cailleret 1er Cru has an attractive bouquet with grilled walnut and light smoky scents hovering in the background. The palate has a creamy opening: vanilla, chestnut and touches of white chocolate, but discrete segueing into a delightful, spicy finish. This is drinking beautifully now, even if it needs a few more months to subsume the oak, but it will keep for another decade." -Neal Martin

"The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru En Cailleret is excellent, unwinding in the glass with aromas of pear, honeycomb, iodine, smoke and wheat toast. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it's lively and precise, with promising underlying structuring and a long, chalky finish." -William Kelley
