From the producer: Its nose is both intense and complex, offering aromas of red fruits combined with grilled and roasted notes. On the palate, it is intense and generous, with well-marked tannins. This powerful wine reveals a silky structure and remarkable persistence.

Faiveley is an Iconic Domaine in the best sense of the term. They have both history and pedigree (almost 200 years and 7 generations old), but also innovation as current managers Erwan and Eve Faiveley look to the future. For years, they were considered one of the large, but high quality, negociants in Burgundy – companies that source grapes from third-party growers for wine production. But now they are a true domaine, with many prized holdings in Burgundy, farmed organically, that yield some of the region’s most sought-after wines.

Professional Reviews

Burghound

"In contrast to the prior wines, here the nose is quite firmly reduced. More interesting are the superbly concentrated and gorgeously textured big-bodied, powerful and muscular flavors that flash a mix of minerality and salinity on the wonderfully complex and highly persistent finish where the only nit is a slight warmth. This is potentially outstanding and a wine that should age effortlessly."

Antonio Galloni

"The palate is medium-bodied with elegant dark berry fruit and a harmonious, briny finish that completes this Les Cazetiers with style. I suspect the nose just needs some time to awaken and get its act together." -Vinous

Robert Parker

"Faiveley's 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers is very promising indeed, mingling aromas of smoky berry fruit and plums with hints of rose hip, orange peel, musk and spices. Medium to full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, it's concentrated and vibrant, with velvety tannins, lively acids and a long, perfumed finish."

Decanter

"Faiveley has a large holding in Cazetiers at 4.06ha and the oldest vines were planted in the 1950s. The fruit for this bottling is completely destemmed and yet there is a slightly exotic aroma here, plus a robust, dark fruit character. The tannins are supple and well-managed, recalling Morey more than Gevrey."

Wine Spectator

WS 95
"A gush of succulent black cherry fruit introduces this effusive red, along with black currant, blackberry, iron and oak spice notes. Dense, yet racy, with an intense, lingering finish of fruit, mineral and spices. Best from 2025 through 2045."
