Hubert Lignier is one of the greatest names in Burgundy. Centered in Morey Saint Denis, but with footholds in several other famous Cote d'Or villages, they make wines that are stylistically very pleasing to today's Burgundy lovers. They are intense and powerful, without sacrificing purity or terroir transparency. They age incredibly well. They are polished and sophisticated. It is a great name for a reason.

The domaine does things the right way--their way--from farming to fermentation to élevage. They practice ""sensible combat"" (lutte raisonnee) in the vineyards and don't use herbicides. Their wines are organic but not certified. They don't have to be. They don't need to pay some outsider to come in and tell them what to do. They don't give a damn and the wines are proof of their greatness. Use of new oak barrels is low--up to 50% on the Grand Crus Charmes Chambertin and Clos de la Roche.
