This bottle is an official Extra Brut selection. It was featured in January 2025.

Pierre Gimonnet is one of the most respected names in Chardonnay-driven Champagne, crafting wines that express the full elegance of the Côte des Blancs. The *Special Club Grand Terroirs* cuvée is a showcase of the estate’s old-vine holdings, blending fruit from premier sites in Cramant, Chouilly, and Cuis. This 2016 vintage release is fermented and aged exclusively in stainless steel to preserve its vibrant fruit character and chalky minerality, with extended lees aging adding layers of complexity.

The wine opens with aromas of white flowers, lemon zest, and crushed seashells, followed by subtle hints of brioche and toasted almond. The palate is chiseled and refined, with flavors of crisp green apple, citrus pith, and a mineral backbone that extends through the long, racy finish. Gimonnet’s precise winemaking ensures that the wine remains impeccably balanced, with bright acidity supporting its elegant structure.

A perfect pairing for fresh oysters, Dover sole, or a delicate goat cheese tart, *Special Club Grand Terroirs* is both a reflection of its noble origins and a Champagne that will age beautifully for years to come.

Pierre Gimonnet, a top Grower in the Cotes des Blancs, who helped to found the The Club Trésors, back in the early 1970s. Nearly 50 years later, the Gimonnet family is still one of their benchmark producers. These wines embody everything we love about Champagne from the Côte des Blancs, especially Cramant. The Gimonnet style is luxurious, but still quite nervy and exciting. There is toasty brioche, sure, but also soaring acidity and lovely, yellow fruit. And the wines are long-lived as demonstrated by many 20+ year old wines we've been lucky to taste.

"The 2016 Extra Brut Spécial Club Grand Terroirs de Chardonnay is a blend of Grand Cru parcels in Cramant and Chouilly and Premier Cru sites in Cuis. Bright and focused, with terrific depth, the 2016 is an absolute delight. Citrus peel, flowers, mint and chalk open first, followed by tropical overtones that give this an exotic flair. Open and approaching maturity, the 2016 is a wine to enjoy over the next few years. Tangerine oil and hazelnut traces linger." -Vinous
