"Here too there is a whiff of reduction though here it's sufficiently subtle to still allow the spicy and overtly floral nose of red cherry, plum, sandalwood and a hint of exotic tea to be appreciated. There is both fine richness and energy to the beautifully textured and delineated middle weight flavors that possess a satiny mouthfeel while delivering excellent length on the impeccably well-balanced and superbly long finish. "The 2016 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru has a fragrant bouquet with peony and iris flower permeating the black cherry and blueberry fruit, all beautifully detailed and refined. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, very pure in style with wonderful focus and silky texture. Maybe the 2017 might possess a little more length, but this has wonderful breeding. It has a voluminous, quite intense bouquet with gorgeous black and red fruit, bilberry and blackcurrant, later a hint of blueberry. It opens magnificently with time. The palate is medium-bodied with filigreed tannin, crystalline blue and black fruit, pitch perfect acidity and a caressing, sensual finish. This will stand shoulder to shoulder with the exemplary 2015—a ravishing but intellectual Les Amoureuses that is bound to find plenty of lovers." -Neal Martin
