Sylvain Gauthier founded Domaine des Pierres Sèches in 2007, naming it for the dry-stone terraces that define Saint-Joseph’s steep, granite slopes. This 2022 Rouge comes from organically farmed vines in the appellation’s original southern villages, including Sarras and Arras-sur-Rhône.

Hand-harvested Syrah is partly destemmed, fermented with native yeasts, and aged 12 months in old French oak. A precise, mineral-driven wine that reflects both terroir and a Burgundian touch.

Left Northern Rhone

This small estate began as micro-negociant in 2007 when Sylvain Gauthier began purchasing a few parcels while working for Chapoutier after graduating from oenology university in Beaune. Today Sylvain has 13.5 hectares of vines, all of which he farms organically.
