The 2023 Garnacha Arroyo del Tórtolas is 100% Garnacha from Gredos. The attractive nose offers precise pomegranate aromas with hints of pink grapefruit, herbs, dried roses and rosehip. The palate is medium-bodied with juicy freshness and stem tannins enhancing the flavor and structure. The gum tannins leave a clear, clean finish marked by rich fruit.

But Bernabeleva's subzone of San Martín de Valdeiglesias can yield distinctly higher-quality wines than the rest of this interior zone. Using biodynamic methods, the estate crafts several different all-Grenache wines, all with great freshness and elegance.

"The 2023 Arroyo del Tórtolas is a single-vineyard Garnacha from a north-facing, 80-year-old plot that achieves high ripeness. This year, the wine has 14.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.37 and 5.85 grams of acidity. It fermented with 80% full clusters and indigenous yeasts and matured in four 500-liter used barrels. It has a bright ruby color and a ripe and complex nose without excess, with mixed flowers, herbs and wild berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied and has abundant but very supple, fine-grained tannins." -Luis Gutiérrez
