Hubert Lignier’s 2021 Pommard “En Brescul” comes from a steep, terraced vineyard overlooking Beaune. The 0.4-hectare site, planted in 1997, has stony soils that yield structured, mineral Pinot Noir with dark fruit and firm tannins.

Vinified with native yeasts and aged in modest new oak, the wine shows restraint and savory depth. A precise, classically built Pommard from one of Burgundy’s most meticulous domaines.

Domaine Hubert Lignier does things the right way--their way--from farming to fermentation to élevage. They practice "sensible combat" (lutte raisonnee) in the vineyards and don't use herbicides. Their wines are organic but not certified. They don't have to be. They don't need to pay some outsider to come in and tell them what to do. They don't give a damn and the wines are proof of their greatness. Use of new oak barrels is low--up to 50% on the Grand Crus Charmes Chambertin and Clos de la Roche.
