A top-two address in Puligny-Montrachet, in a vintage of extreme scarcity. April frosts in 2016 devastated Burgundy's white wine production, but what survived shows remarkable freshness, minerality, and pure Chardonnay character. Domaine Étienne Sauzet was established in 1903 and is now run by Emilie Boudot and her husband Benoît Riffault. Organically farmed since 2006, biodynamic since 2010. The one-hectare Les Combettes parcel holds 50-year-old vines on east-facing argilo-calcareous soil. This is Puligny at its most precise and mineral.

Emilie and Benoit Riffault are the 4th generation of proprietors at this storied estate. Emilie's parents converted the entire estate to biodynamic farming. She and Benoit continue the practice of aging their wines on the fine lees for 10-12 months.
