Hudelot-Noëllat’s 2020 Les Beaumonts comes from a small Premier Cru parcel on the upper slope of Vosne-Romanée. Vines are mature, and farming follows a thoughtful, low-intervention approach under winemaker Charles van Canneyt.

The Pinot Noir is vinified traditionally with minimal new oak, emphasizing clarity and fine structure. A poised, age-worthy wine from one of Vosne’s more refined premier crus.

Burgundy domaines are reinvigorated, even reborn, when a new generation joins a venerable establishment. When Alain Hudelot-Noellat retired in 2008 his grandson Charles Van Canneyt took over the reins; since then Hudelot-Noellat has just gotten better and better. The wine quality, which was always very good, has risen dramatically. Like many of the new generation of Burgundian winemakers, Charles focuses on meticulous grape farming and limiting yield in the vineyards - quantities are lower but the quality is greatly improved.

Here the 0.3ha of old vines are planted in very thin soils at the top of the slope."
