Ameztoi’s “Primus” is a still Txakoli from the estate’s oldest Hondarrabi Zuri vines near Getaria. The 2023 is fermented with native yeasts and aged six months on fine lees without bâtonnage, then bottled unfiltered.

It’s a refined, mineral white with floral lift and saline depth. A serious, still expression of coastal Basque terroir from a leading producer.

Ameztoi lies twenty minutes away from San Sebastian, that bastion of Basque food and culture. While the winery focuses on the native and unique varieties and styles, they are also renowned for their innovation. Made from the indigenous varieties Hondarribi Zuri and its red partner Hondarribi Beltza, both white and rosé wines are fermented in stainless steel and bottled with residual carbon dioxide to instill its signature spritz. A benchmark of the region, Ameztoi Txakolina is seen at all the top pintxo bars in San Sebastián.
