We are thrilled to be welcoming Federica Grasso of Ca’ del Baio to our shop on Tuesday, October 29th at 5pm for a very special and intimate seminar.
Ca’ del Baio—a historic, four-generation family winery—is one of the classic names in Barbaresco. Established in the late 1800s, Ca’ del Baio has been crafting exceptional wines that reflect the rich heritage and traditions of the Grasso family. Today, Federica and her sisters, Paola and Valentina, are carrying forward their family’s legacy, infusing fresh energy into the estate while honoring time-honored winemaking practices.
At the core of Ca’ del Baio’s philosophy is a deep commitment to sustainability and respect for the land. The winery focuses on eco-friendly viticulture, biodiversity preservation, and minimal intervention in both the vineyards and the cellar. Their wines are produced exclusively from estate-owned vineyards, including notable Crus like Vallegrande, Pora, and Asili, each contributing to the unique character and elegance of their Barbaresco wines.
This seminar offers a rare opportunity to taste a curated selection of Ca’ del Baio’s finest wines and to learn directly from Federica about the nuances of her family's approach to sustainable winemaking and the stories behind each bottle. Whether you’re a seasoned wine enthusiast or exploring Barbaresco wines for the first time, this event promises to be an enlightening and enriching experience.
Be prepared to deepen your appreciation for the beautiful wines from this important Barbaresco estate while enjoying an engaging and interactive discussion with Federica, your fellow attendees and our resident Italian wine expert, Flori Kennedy.
There are a limited number of seats available for this special event, so we encourage you to please act fast!
Frederica Grasso is charming and informative, and their wines are lovely. However, given the quantity and cost of the wines served, the cost of the tasting is a bit high given the spartan amenities and accommodations. At this price, I expect better glassware and/or food--even if it's just bread and cheese.
