Bouchard is one of the larger land owners and negociants (purchasing fruit from other farmers) in Burgundy, but that means that the wines are often terrific value. 50 or 60 years ago, long before the Cote d'Or was full of famous domaines and winemakers whose wines fetch hundreds or thousands of dollars, most of the Burgundy you would find at cafรฉs and bistros was from negociants.
