Château Clerc Milon 1990 reflects a warm, generous vintage from a Fifth Growth estate under the Rothschild family. Located between Mouton and Lafite, its gravel soils are planted mainly to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. In 1990, yields were modest, and the wine matured in oak for 16 months.

Now fully evolved, it shows softened tannins, mature black fruit, and tobacco-cedar complexity. A classic Pauillac with pedigree and polish, drinking at peak over three decades on.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 85
"Good medium-dark color. Aroma of roasted nuts has a faint barnyard rusticity. Reasonably concentrated and ripe, but lacks the middle-palate richness of the vintage. Dusty tannins show a dry edge." -Stephen Tanzer

Robert Parker

RP 86
"Not as concentrated, opulent, and velvety as the 1989, the 1990 is still a sexy and smooth wine, with a fragrant nose of cassis, smoke, vanillin, roasted nuts, and exotic scents. This luscious wine, with a creamy texture and excellent color, falls off on the palate, much like its siblings, D'Armailhac and Mouton-Rothschild. It should offer delicious drinking for another 8-10 years." -Robert M. Parker, Jr.

Wine Spectator

WS 90
"Lots of dried fruit, currant and plum character. Medium- to full-bodied, with fine tannins and a pretty finish. Lovely harmony to Clerc now."
